Letters | A NEW POPE IS ELECTED TO LEAD THE CHURCH

US government could learn a thing or two from Vatican conclave

Smaller and simpler than our federal government, the Vatican conclave worked. Perhaps we might incorporate some of their incentives to make our government more functional.

Whenever a decision on a bill cannot be reached after three days, the House and Senate retire for a day of prayer, then meet to try again.

I can only hope this writer is making a tongue in cheek argument.  With scandals galore, backward pontificating, and no signs of eliminating poverty or pestulence from the world, the Vatican is a governing failure.  No thanks.

You bit. Now aren't you just a little embarrassed?

name one organizatin or govt on earth that is perfect?

The process for selecting the Pope is just the same as in any authoritarian, non-democratic regime. It's simply power games, behind closed doors.
