I read with interest, and some surprise, Daniel B. Kline’s March 23 Business article “PAX East packs ’em in.” I say surprise because Kline wrote only about the first room, where all the video game companies had their booths. A few yards further was the other half of PAX East, which included hundreds of cooperative and competitive tabletop games being played without any technology beyond dice, cards, paper, and pen. Our booths, while perhaps not as flashy as the others, were consistently mobbed by many of the same people and to much the same happy effect.
Next year, I hope that the Globe reporter assigned to the story will focus beyond that first room. There are plenty of Massachusetts success stories to be found in the other half of PAX East, too.
