letters | boston taxi industry under the spotlight

May harsh glow of scrutiny light way to taxi industry overhaul

Once again we owe a debt of thanks to the Globe and its Spotlight Team for the series on abuse of Boston cabdrivers and corruption at all levels of their business (“Driven to the edge,” Page A1, March 31-April 2).

Other disgraces that everybody knew about but that nobody could seem to do anything about have ended after Spotlight series have brought publicity to bear on them. May this latest investigation spark a frank discussion about the costs to us all that arise from artificial scarcity of taxicab medallions.
