It shouldn’t take a hunger strike to bring Guantanamo injustice to light

HOORAY TO the dual punch of the Globe’s editorial (“As Obama, Congress move on, Guantanamo is still a problem,” April 6) and James Carroll’s column (“Guantanamo is America’s moral failure,” Op-ed, April 8).

Something is terribly flawed with our public priorities and decision making when more than 100 out of the 166 detainees at Guantanamo need to go on an extended hunger strike simply to draw attention to what our justice system represents and is supposed to be doing.
