Letters | Senate race heats up

Party leaders erred in pushing Markey

THE DEMOCRATIC ESTABLISHMENT decided that, rather then letting the people of Massachusetts pick an electable candidate in a hard-fought primary, the party leadership would, in its hubris, foist Ed Markey on us.

As a true liberal, I find Markey a symbol of all that is wrong in the Democratic Party. For example, when Congress voted on the Wall Street bailout known as TARP, Markey voted yes; his Democratic primary opponent, Stephen Lynch, voted NO, observing that it was hard for him to ask his blue-collar voters to reach into their pockets to pay for bonuses at Goldman Sachs.
