Think twice before sending troops into maw of war

Say what you will about Maximilien Robespierre. However, he had one salient observation that could help guide us in dealing with Syria. In arguing against invading Austria, he said, “No one loves armed missionaries.”

We did not learn this lesson in Iraq or Afghanistan, but perhaps now we will think twice before sending our sons and daughters into a maw of war where they surely will not be loved.
