Letters | MR. NOLAN GOES (BACK) TO WASHINGTON

Here’s $25 — may it help remove pall cast over Congress

Representative Rick Nolan, Democrat of Minnesota, greeted students on Capitol Hill.

Representative Rick Nolan, Democrat of Minnesota, greeted students on Capitol Hill.

In response to your portrait of returning Minnesota Representative Rick Nolan (“Not the Congress he used to know,” Page A1, May 28), we are sending him a $25 campaign contribution. We can’t vote for him, but perhaps we can save him 25 nanoseconds of time from the four hours that new members of Congress are told they must spend each day fund-raising instead of legislating.

Nolan’s “32-year nap” gives him a welcome perspective on the dysfunctionality of the current Congress. May his example be a candle of hope to help dispel the pall of partisanship and pandering that has fallen over that institution.
