Markey supporters’ scare tactics over abortion smack of desperation

I’m exhausted by the constant scare tactics by Democrats on abortion (“GOP victory could spell doom for abortion rights,” Letters, June 8). Don’t Democrats have anything else of import to say?

Given Representative Edward Markey’s nearly 37 years in Congress, don’t Markey supporters have any other argument to fall back on besides scaring women?

The morning-after pill is available to young people at the drugstore. Abortion pills are available from any doctor. Schools give out free condoms like candy, and there is no limit to condom accessibility at every dime store. There are abortion clinics throughout Massachusetts.

How much easier can it be to prevent unwanted pregnancy? What more do Democrats want out of this issue?

Does Markey’s Republican rival for the Senate, Gabriel Gomez, scare Democrats that much? If so, they show how little confidence they have in the man who has been elected 16 times to Congress.
