letters | should politicians shun William Bulger?

Guilt by association is an injustice

OVER THE years, Globe writers have demonstrated their zealous and unrelenting dislike for former Senate president William M. Bulger. We get it (“Political elite should shun Bill Bulger,” Op-ed, June 23). Jeff Jacoby is wrong to call for shunning Bulger. This man was neither charged nor found guilty of any crime, but Jacoby would have Bulger publicly pilloried in the village square of public opinion.

Fortunately, in the United States we have a system of justice which gives each of us the right to live our lives, within the law, as we see fit. Jacoby would have you forget about such notions.
