Why did Patriots rush to cut ties?

RE “HERNANDEZ is charged with murder” (Page A1, June 27):

I’m curious as to why the New England Patriots cut one of their football players within hours of his arrest. When I was growing up, we all believed in the cornerstone of British-American jurisprudence, namely that a person is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Does that concept no longer have value for large profit-motivated corporations like the Patriots?
