Look to Fenway Park for reasons to be optimistic about paper’s future

I for one am quite optimistic regarding Red Sox principal owner John Henry as the new owner of the Globe, looking not to what he has done for the baseball team, but rather to what he did — and did not do — for Fenway Park.

He could have easily decided that it was a dump and torn it down to build something bigger, newer, and shinier. But he did not. He took a venerable institution and remade it to pass down to another generation of devotees.

I am optimistic that he will not try to make the Globe into something newer and shinier, but will preserve it as an institution that this city deserves.
