State must do more to quiet noise

Kudos to Scot Lehigh for writing about loud motorcycles (“What crackdown on loud bikes?” Op-ed, Aug. 30). As a motorcyclist of decades — I ride a quiet BMW — I am puzzled by why more is not done to prevent the abuse of the privilege to ride.

Just as cars must pass state inspection each year, so must motorcycles. So how is it that loud bikes pass?

The issue really needs to be taken up at the state level. More rigorous inspections and periodic, strategically placed police roadblocks to check for offenders would get the message out.
