Big Father is watching you?

In an otherwise thoughtful essay about innate compassion (“Where does compassion come from?” Op-ed, Sept. 4), Jeff Jacoby compares an all-seeing God to a surveillance camera.

I do not believe in God, and I do not think that being spied upon makes me a better person. It makes me feel like a suspect.
