Well, the podiatrists must be pleased

Podiatrists and orthopedists must jump for joy whenever they see articles such as the one about Thom Solo and his extreme shoe designs (“Aiming high,” g, Sept. 5) because the foot and joint specialists know that they are set for life. That women feel they must wear such extremely high heels and uncomfortable shoes or be considered déclassé, in spite of the evidence of the injury and harm such shoes cause to feet and legs, is just another sign of our society’s disregard for the well-being of girls and women.
