“RATINGS range high, low for Boston teachers” (Page A1, Nov. 21) provided a comprehensive and helpful airing of the results of teacher evaluations in the Boston Public Schools, but conspicuously omitted any mention of the evaluation methods or instruments. What can we infer about the accuracy of the process? For example, are the evaluations objective, anecdotal, or what? And do the evaluators use the same methodology and instruments across all classrooms and across all schools? We are so energetic in our attempts to evaluate students by objective criteria. Does the same hold true for their teachers?
