The choice between military spending and health care

Re “Bring on the military parade” (Opinion, Sept. 22): I can only wonder at what kind of society we have become when the Senate increases military spending $54 billion beyond the White House request and the next week they want to pass a bill that will strip health care from 20 million people and increase the costs for everyone! What could the health care program do with $54 billion dollars? Is this the choice we really want to make?
