Some 40,000 persons, most of them eager children who contributed small sums to aid the Boston Post in obtaining for the city of Boston, the three clever elephants, Tony, Waddy and Mollie, crowded Fenway Park to its capacity yesterday morning to witness the formal presentation of the animals to the city and an excellent entertainment.
Gov Walsh presented the elephants to Mayor Curley and the latter called for three cheers for the Post. The welcome extended to the three elephants when they appeared upon the field was deafening.
Besides the performance of the elephants there were acts of various professional entertainers, a band concert and dances by children. … After the entertainment there was a parade to South Station, where the elephants were shipped in a special car to Franklin Park.
