Thomas needs a save to restore his legacy

It can still end well here for Tim Thomas. Right now, the Facebook-posting, self-imploding goaltender is shoulder to shoulder with Curt Schilling and Manny Ramirez regarding how Boston will remember him. Not just as a player, but as a person, a key player-citizen in what is the unique nation of Boston sports.

Tim Thomas owes you and the Boston fans nothing more than his very best efforts on the ice. To compare him or Schilling to Manny is disgraceful. You're typical of the liberal medial. They tolerate only those that share their philosophy. Just curious. Why didn't you include Theo in with Manny and Schilling?

KPD, The only reason Thomas's cohorts are left to answer for him is because you (and other media types) keep pressing them for answers. You dragged his teammates into this, not him. Give it a rest, eh? No one cares about TT's politics except intrusive reporters. Let his goaltending stand by itelf and drop the pretentious crusade to pillory him over a non-issue.

Amen to both previous comments. What does all this have to do with Thomas as a goaltender for the Bruins? I know that the Globe may not be happy that a hockey player has a personal view of things, particularly anything possibly negative about Obama. But that is his right, which you acknowledge and then continue to pillory. Please stop it move on to hockey subjects. Unless you want to post comments on his Facebook page.

This guy can't have it both ways. He is using his position with the Bruins to promote his political beliefs but he refuses to answer questions from the media. People don't like Schilling because he has a big mouth, plus he is a GOP member in a liberal state. People do not like Tim Thomas because him refusing to go to the White House was a black eye for the Bruins Organization as well as to the Bruins fans and the citizens of Boston. I have lost all respect for him.

KPD: Thomas' legacy is secure. He is a clutch performer who won us the Stanley Cup. His personal beliefs are irrelevant to everyone but you and a few of your collegues in the media. The rest of us don't care.

Dare one ask whether Thomas has become a significant distraction, to the point where team-play has been affected? It is simply coincidence that the Bruins have gone south since his decision to take his puck and go home?

Schilling and Thomas are primarily responsible for two of the seven championships that Boston laid claim to over a ten year period. If that's not enough for you that's too bad. They don't owe you allegiance to the Democrat Party and its liberal philosophy. I'm sure they'll get over not having your respect.
