Roundup: Duke rallies past N.C. State

Seth Curry scored 21 of his season-high 26 points in the second half and No. 5 Duke rallied from 20 points down with 11:33 to play to beat North Carolina State, 78-73, last night in Durham, N.C.

Freshman Austin Rivers added 16 points on 4-of-13 shooting for the Blue Devils (22-4, 9-2 Atlantic Coast Conference), who used late rallies of 13-0 and 20-3 to erase the huge deficit.


Lorenzo Brown scored 19 points to lead the Wolfpack (18-8, 7-4).

Michigan St. 69, Wisconsin 55 - Draymond Green had 20 points and 10 rebounds, Keith Appling scored 20 points, and the No. 7 Spartans (21-5, 10-3) beat the No. 15 Badgers (19-7, 8-5) to move back into a first-place tie in the Big Ten with No. 6 Ohio State.

Florida St. 48, Virginia Tech 47 - Michael Snaer’s 3-pointer with 2.6 seconds left boosted the No. 20 Seminoles (18-7, 9-2) over the Hokies (14-12, 3-8) in Tallahassee, Fla., to stay in a first-place tie in the Atlantic Coast Conference.

St Francis (N.Y.) 64, Quinnipiac 56 - Jalen Cannon scored 13 points and pulled down 19 boards to lead the Terriers (14-12, 11-4 NEC) over the Bobcats (15-11, 8-7) in Hamden, Conn.

Robert Morris 69, Bryant 40 - Velton Jones scored 19 points and the Colonials (20-8, 11-4 NEC) handed the visiting Bulldogs (2-25, 1-14) their 12th straight loss.

Women’s basketball


Boston College 56, Clemson 53 - Kristen Doherty had 17 points and seven rebounds to lift the Eagles (7-19, 2-11 ACC) over the Tigers (6-18, 2-11) at Conte Forum.

Northeastern 76, Georgia State 51 - Christine Huber and Deanna Kerkhof had 19 points each as the Huskies (5-20, 3-11 CAA) cruised past the visiting Panthers (7-18, 1-13).

Stanford 78, Oregon State 45 - Nnemkadi Ogwumike had 27 points and nine rebounds to lead the No. 3 Cardinal (23-1, 14-0 Pac-12) over the host Beavers (17-8, 8-6).

Men’s hockey

Westfield State 5, Salem State 4 - Junior forward Rory Wilkowich scored with 2:21 left in overtime to lead the host Owls (6-12-5, 4-9-4 MASCAC) over the Vikings (12-8-3, 9-4-3), denying Salem State coach William O’Neill his 500th career win for the second straight game. His record is 499-310-54 in 31 years as Salem’s head coach.
