David Ortiz conceded he may have had the wrong guy when he called out Dan Shaughnessy for critical comments made by someone else.

Dan: Just think of this as cosmic payback for some of those times when you've made a fool out of yourself with something dumb you wrote.

I don't know the actual Age but I do remember that Willie Stargell was still going strong in his late thirties. An old teammate from y army days was from Pittsburgh and we stayed in contact over the years. He loved big Willie.

Once again the loathsome Shaughnessy makes himself the center of the story. Reassuring to know he never loses his perspective.

Come on Dan, you're better than this. It's not about you. I wish the world clock could be turned back to a time when sportswriters wrote about sports, or interviewed sports figures, instead of writing about themselves and interviewing each other. One would be hard-pressed a column by Ray Fitzgerald or Leigh Montville--or even a young Dan Shaughnessy--where the writer was the topic.
