Bobby Valentine hasn’t even managed his first official game in a Red Sox uniform, and already he has fans scratching their heads with an uneasy anticipation toward Opening Day.

Well, add one more oddity to the pile.

Valentine agreed to a deal to appear weekly on ESPN-1050 radio in New York.

He will join Michael Kay, a broadcaster who works for the Yankees’ YES Network, on the air.

Valentine made light of his deal to do a weekly radio interview with ESPN Radio in New York.

“What, there aren’t any Red Sox fans in New York?” Valentine cracked.

He also said he would be doing a weekly show in Boston.

Valentine managed the New York Mets from 1996-2002. He is a native of Stamford, Conn., which is just north of New York City.

The segment was expected to debut Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.
