Girls' lacrosse preview

Sheetz’s seven goals spark Waring

Maggie Sheetz opened the season by scoring seven goals and adding an assist Friday to lead the Waring girls’ lacrosse team to a 20-13 win over Landmark in Beverly.

Waring, which is looking for its ninth consecutive IGC title, will be relying on Sheetz, an All-Scholastic last season, but it will be a challenge, said coach Ambrose Devaney.

“We’re a very young team,’’ Devaney said.

Waring’s roster includes six sophomores, three freshmen, and two eighth-graders.
