Who's the manager...Pedroia, Cherrington?? Their comments undermined their leader...they should have just stayed out of it and said it was between Youk and Valentine and that they will straighten it out. Proves everyday that Pedroia is still Tito's boy (should be fined for his comments) and Cherrington had nothing to do with Valentine's hiring....if Valentine can't be himself, and they undermine him...it will be a long season....

Valentine has had a long history of failure caused by creating dissension on his teams. The comparison to Don Zimmer is appropriate. Zimmer and Valentine created problems by attacking those players who work the hardest. Valentine's said that he would change, but this is an indication that he will not change.
The Sox have won three of their last four against the team many think will be in the World Series. Why should we "look out below" or expect the season to "go south?" Keep up the hard work Dan.
hey Dan- let it go. Hey players- just shut up and play. Hey Youk- sorry you were questioned but you need to step it up. Hey Pedey- wish we had 9 of you BUT "the way we do it here" has changed. You, of all people, should understand this. Hey Red Sox players- many of us are still Bull^%$#t from last September. You've got a lot of work to do before you earn back our trust and admiration. Hey Ownership- we know you are running business and are about making $$- BUT lie to us once and a while, stroke us a little bit. Maybe admit that you handled the Francona situation poorly and that if you had a re-do you'd do things differently.... Regards, Fans,
Funny how CHB was nowhere to be found during the 3 game win streak but as soon as the Youk/Valentine dust up occurs there is another sky is falling/conspiracy rip job by CHB. Dan, let it go.
Bobby V screwed up last nights game with poor managing and going negative about Youk. He has turned into a jerk or maybe that is what he always was.
There's something disingenuous and disturbing in his eyes and forced smile
"I don't think he's as physically or emotionally into the game as he has been in the past for some reason,'' said Valentine. "But [Saturday] it seemed, you know, he's seeing the ball well, got those two walks, got his on-base percentage up higher than his batting average, which is always a good thing, and he'll move on from there." Seriously. this is much ado about nothing. it is a manufactured "crisis" trumped up by sports editors who want to sell papers. READ WHAT HE SAID. Everyone quotes the first part, but neglects the second part, where Bobby said he was doing better and he can move on from there. So what do the sports scribes do? Make it into a "dissing" of Youk. Then they ask other players (again only quoting the first part or, better yet - an old media trick - paraphrasing so it sounds worse than it was). Then others pick it up and before you know it, a controversy is manufactured. Well, sorry, Bobby was right. Youk has NOT been himself. Is he hands off because of past performances? No one else gets that bye. Let the guys play ball. Stop trying to deliberately trump up something that isn't there. I realize dissension in the ranks makes for good ink. But it is serves no one. Can't you just let them play ball? The Globe (and other media outlets) probably are more responsible than Bobby for getting the Sox off their game. What a load of garbage.
Tell me something. Has Youk's performance been severely under par since the beginning of the season? Yes, it has. So what's wrong with saying "he didn't look like himself?" Bobby then went on to say that he got some hits and started looking better and that he could build on it from there. this is nothing more than manufactured outrage. Bobby was right. And if Youk doesn't like it, let him show it with his bat.
What did he say that wasn't true? You has NOT been himself. he is starting to hit better. that's all Valentine said. But the Globe (and other sports "pundits") decided they had something that they could misquote and create controversy - gotta sell those papers after all. And are sports stars so sensitive that when someone calls them on poor play they have to get upset and whine about it? Take your millions and PLAY BALL as best you can. That's all the fans ask. I'm sick of manufactured outrage.
