Beckett’s defiance and lack of accountability have arisen because no one in the Red Sox hierarchy has stood up to him.

But according to Pete and many others (hence the Globe pre-season baseball extra that seemed to be nothing but Bobby-V related articles), Valentine was supposed to ride in on his white horse and solve this kind of problem.

Beckett is as much of a cancer to the team as Manny was to the Sox
