Feel great about the Celtics despite the loss

I woke up Thursday and I felt good.

Disappointed? Sure. I had watched that epic Game 2 as a fan, just as you did. There was none of that phony-baloney I’m-a-writer-and-I-just-root for-the-story pomposity. I wanted the Celtics to win, and not solely because it would have made the Eastern Conference finals a real series. Who doesn’t know that 1-1 coming back home is a whole lot better than being 0-2?

Damn straight. The city should throw them a parade.

Disappointed in the loss...sure; Proud and appreciative of this team...absolutely

I feel the same way, but regarding the officiating and history, they have nothing to do with one another. We are, sadly, once again watching the players raise their game while the officials lower theirs. I don't know if "the fix" is on or ever was, but nothing would surprise me, or if these guys just aren't good enough. Either way, it sucks.

One thing I feel good about is Bob Ryan's official retirement, although any serious reader is cognizant of the fact that he has been on the bench, far removed from the action for years, just mailing in columns from remote locations. Bob is the self anointed world's greatest expert on basketball. If you have any doubt, just ask him. So well versed on the sport that he severely criticized Rajon Rondo's selection by Danny Ainge as amateurish and, in my view, secretly wished for Ainge's demise so his idol,, Larry Bird, come back and save the franchise. By the way Bob, after London, why not continue east for a while, I hear Minsk is real nice in the summer and the official government newspaper columns are just as agenda driven and accurate as yours.

Bit of a chip on your shoulder there, bud?

Well said Bob. I couldn't agree more.

jdc, you are an idiot. No other word fits better. Except perhaps moron. Or imbecile. Or nitwit.

Well said, Bob. They played like Celtics. Can't put it any simpler than that.

Bob Ryan - best sportswriter in the biz. Perfectly blends knowledge of the game with objectivity yet fandom. I completely agree with you - win or lose this team has heart and we all should be very proud of it. Btw, tell that to your colleague Dan Shaughnessy too - Mr. Negativity himself.
