Red Sox general manager Ben Cherington had no comment Tuesday on whether he had any talks with teams about the possibility of trading Kevin Youkilis.

But Cherington also didn’t deny talks involving Youkilis have occurred.

The White Sox, Pirates, Dodgers, Indians, Diamondbacks, and Phillies all have some level of interest. Youkilis’s agent Joe Bick said that the veteran Red Sox infielder has not asked to be traded.

Youkilis has been the subject of trade speculation throughout the season, and the emergence of third baseman Will Middlebrooks, who replaced Youkilis while the veteran was on the disabled list, has done nothing to quiet the trade talk.

Youkilis is batting .215 in 39 games this season, and has four home runs and 13 RBIs.
