Red Sox’ problem isn’t chemistry, it’s talent

The big question this week is whether the Red Sox have an issue in their clubhouse. ESPN’s Buster Olney has raised the issue before this season and was particularly forceful about it on Monday in a report that claimed the Red Sox clubhouse was “toxic.”

For starters, clubhouse chemistry is vastly overrated in baseball. People assume good teams have it and bad teams don’t. It’s rarely that simple.

i agree that a clubhouse environment is complicated...and Valentine is hard to like for a lot of reasons -- he's not a good listener, he invented baseball, he exudes arrogance...but the Sox have some pretty strong teams to leapfrog and let' remember, should they grab onto a playoff spot, they'll likely lose in the first round, due to an overused pen and Ortiz' likely sputter after a long season...Trade Youkilis? It better be to the NL!
