Gil Santos prepared to answer the call for Patriots

It might slip the mind in these sizzling days of early summer, but the NFL season isn’t so far away. The Patriots kick off their preseason schedule roughly six weeks from now, Aug. 9 against the Saints.

But even before the first play, the Patriots already will be affiliated with one impressive comeback.

Typical Globe perspective from the Red Sox version of Isvestia over at the Kremlin on Yawkey Way. Chad begins his article (a rather blatent and pathetic attempt to kiss up to the beloved Gil Santos, after Finn spewed venom over him just a few days before Christmas/Finn was the one who was burned by the article, not Gil) by stating that "it might have slipped the mind... of pro football fans that the season is about to begin. Chad, today for your edification, ESPN Boston had almost 300 comments on the Patriots and just 36 on the Red Sox, on a six game win streak. Sometimes Mike Reiss' columns get over a thousand comments a day IN THE OFF SEASON. (That's because Globe management decided not to pay Mike and kept the two dinasaurs, Shag and Bob, it's OKAY TO PERJURE YOURSELF AS LONG AS YOU ARE MY HERO ROGER, Ryan) Meanwhile, the Globe's top three Red Sox columns in today's on-line edition HAVE NO COMMENTS as of 8:55. Bob Kraft doesn't have to sell $3.50 game day seats, he has a season ticket waiting list,at last report of 10,000, doesn't subscribe to promoting phony sellouts, doesn't have a coach who can neither articulate his views or command the respect of his players. Doesn't have me me me me first blowhards like David Ortiz or sycophants like Nick Cafardo, Peter Abraham or Jessica Moran. And has been in 5 of the last 11 superbowls,WITH A SALARY CAP. If the Red Sox management team had the same salary cap restrictions as the Patriots, they would never have won a playoff game never mind a world series.

Watching the Pats, turning the voice off of Phil Simms and all the other yakkers, firing up Gil and Gino on the radio is second to none. Here's hoping both return!!

Noooooooooooooooo need to. Their defense of Curt Schilling says it all, combined with their abysmal ratings that have trended down for almost a year. Maybe they can have noted foreign policy expert Sarah Palin as guest?

Chad Finn would rather have us listen to Joe "the Sandman" Castiglione.
