Players of the Year:

Kiara Amos Malden, Senior

Amos pitched her team to a 24-2 record, including its first state championship appearance. She had 257 strikeouts, 14 shutouts, and 2 no-hitters. She finished her career with 75 wins, 923 strikeouts, 7 no-hitters, a 1.02 ERA. She will play for Providence College.

Kelly Norton Abington, Senior

Norton led the Green Wave to a 23-3 mark and the South Shore League and Eastern Mass titles. She amassed 227 strikeouts in 168 innings with a 0.60 ERA. She finished her career 61-14, starting 71 straight games. She will attend UMass-Amherst.

Shannon Orton Case

Orton led the Cardinals to a 17-7 record. She had a 1.05 ERA with 161 strikeouts, and a .416 batting average and 32 RBIs. She finished her career with 81 RBIs and a 1.59 ERA and 494 strikeouts. She plans to play for UMass-Dartmouth.

All-Scholastics:

Patty Borges

Coyle & Cassidy, Senior

Borges sported a .446 batting average and a .533 on base percentage with 33 runs scored. She finished the regular season with an impressive .986 fielding percentage, committing only one error on 79 chances at shortstop. She will attend and play for Stony Brook University.

Katharyn Caruso Newton North, Senior

Caruso, named the Bay State Carey League MVP, sported a .693 batting average, hit 10 homers, and had 47 RBIs. She was a league All-Star all four years, and is an All-Star in hockey. She plans to attend Southern New Hampshire University.

Briana Chiusano Mansfield, Senior

Chiusano hit .551 with 5 home runs, 4 triples, and 39 runs for the Hornets. One of the quickest outfielders in the state, she was a perfect 22 for 22 in stolen bases. She plans to play for Coastal Carolina University.

Audrey Dolloff Bridgewater-Raynham

Dolloff pitched the Trojans to a 21-2 mark to capture the Old Colony League and Div. 1 South crowns. She finished the regular season with a 1.41 ERA, striking out 113. She will play field hockey for Southern Connecticut State University.

Emily Hoffman Malden, Senior

Co-MVP of the GBL, Hoffman hit .536 with two home runs and 19 RBIs. Behind the plate, she threw out every attempted steal this season, and 95 percent of base runners in her career. Hoffman will play for Endicott College.

Emily Jarvis Hopkinton, Senior

Jarvis, named the Tri-Valley League MVP, hit .453. She had 2 doubles, 2 triples, 3 home runs, and 23 RBIs and 6 stolen bases. She also has a .496 career batting average. A member of the National Honor Society, Jarvis will play for Holy Cross.

Nicole Lundstrom Dighton-Rehoboth, Junior

Lundstrom finished with a .464 batting average and 11 homers. She walked 24 times, giving her a .606 on-base percentage. She led the Falcons with 30 RBIs and a 1.058 slugging percentage. She plays for the R.I. Thunder Gold and has verbally committed to Syracuse University.

Kelsey Perron-Sovik Fairhaven, Senior

A South Coast Conference All-Star for volleyball, basketball, and softball, Perron-Sovik hit .459 with 22 RBIs. She also hit .416 with 22 RBIs last season. A member of the National Honor Society, Perron-Sovik will play softball for Eastern Connecticut State University.

Lauren Ramirez Dracut, Junior

Ramirez finished with an 18-1 record, a 0.86 ERA, and 211 strikeouts in 130 innings, pitching the Middies to the Eastern Mass Div. 2 finals. She helped her own cause hitting .365 with 2 home runs, 2 triples, 4 doubles, and 23 RBIs.

Meghan Rico King Philip, Senior

Rico was 17-3 and struck out 274 in 142 innings. She finished her career 43-3, won 2 state championships, threw 4 perfect games, 8 no-hitters, 30 shutouts, and struck out 628 in 313 innings, sporting a 0.31 ERA. She will play for George Washington.

Meaghan Rocha Newton Country Day, Senior

The senior pitcher posted a 2.61 ERA, while striking out 56. She also belted 90 hits, including 15 triples. A National Honors Society member, Rocha was also an All-League field hockey player, and plans to attend Bucknell University.

Sarah Ropiak Acton-Boxborough, Senior

Ropiak was named the DCL Large MVP after winning her fourth DCL championship with the Colonials. She sported a 0.69 ERA, managing 224 strikeouts. She finished her career with 559 strikeouts and one Div. 1 North title. Ropiak will play for Brown University.

Madi Shaw Bridgewater-Raynham, Sophomore

Shaw finished with a .490 batting average, 10 home runs, 8 doubles, and 38 RBIs. Her bat and solid defensive skills propelled the Trojans to a Div. 1 South championship. An OCL All-Star, she also plays for the Mass Drifters.

Coaches of the Year:

Coach of the year: Jessica DePolito Matignon

In her fourth season as coach, DePolito, led the Warriors to a 17-8 mark this season and a Div. 3 North title. "I enjoyed every day I spent with my team," she said. "They inspired me every day. I am so proud of them."

Coach of the year: John Furlong Malden

Furlong led the Tornadoes to their first Div. 1 North and Eastern Mass title with a 24-2 record. A Malden High alum, Furlong has a career record of 42-5. He said this year's team was the “hardest working” he’s coached.

Coach of the year: Ernest Ortega Abington

Ortega led the Green Wave to a 23-2 mark this season, capturing the South Shore League championship with a 14-0 league record. Under Ortega, Abington won the Div. 2 South and Eastern Mass title. His record at Abington is 44-4.
