The Nets reached an agreement on a four-year, $40 million contract with Gerald Wallace, the New York Post reported Sunday. The Nets are also reportedly involved in talks to acquire Hawks guard Joe Johnson while Magic center Dwight Howard reportedly told new Orlando general manager Rob Hennigan on Friday he’d like to be traded to the Nets, who have a new home in Brooklyn this season. Wallace, acquired from the Trail Blazers last season, averaged 15.2 points in 16 games for the Nets . . . The Raptors offered guard Steve Nash a three-year, $36 million contract, according to an ESPN.com report, which said the former league MVP has also met with the Knicks . . . Bulls restricted free agent center Omer Asik agreed to a three-year, $25 million deal with the Rockets, according to a person with direct knowledge of the deal . . . The Hornets waived Rashard Lewis, an expected move after they acquired the 14-year veteran forward in a June 20 trade with Washington for Trevor Ariza and Emeka Okafor. Lewis, 32, was entering the final year of a $118 million, six-year contract, which included a $13.7 million buyout provision for the last year . . . Britain’s Olympic team will be without Ben Gordon after he failed to join the squad for training camp. Britain coach Chris Spice said the London-born guard couldn’t commit to playing after he was traded from the Pistons to the Bobcats last week. Britain has only one NBA player — Bulls forward Luol Deng . . . Central Florida senior guard Marcus Jordan, the son of Michael Jordan, was arrested in Omaha early Sunday for resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, and obstructing following a disturbance outside a downtown hotel. According to a police report, Jordan was having an argument with two women in the hotel driveway and was ‘‘very animated, intoxicated, and uncooperative,’’ and it took multiple officers to handcuff him. He was released Sunday night.

Little lifts Storm over Sun in overtime

Camille Little scored 5 of her game-high 27 points in overtime and added nine rebounds as the visiting Seattle Storm beat the Connecticut Sun, 89-83, in the WNBA. Tina Thompson added 20 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 blocks for Seattle, and Sue Bird had 11 points, 8 assists, and 5 rebounds. Asjha Jones had 15 points and 11 rebounds for the Sun, and Kara Lawson scored 22 points. Tina Charles had 13 points and 14 rebounds . . . Becky Hammon scored 23 points and Sophia Young added 22 to lead the host San Antonio Silver Stars to a 93-84 win over the Minnesota Lynx. Monica Wright led Minnesota with 18 points . . . Crystal Langhorne scored 22 points and Noelle Quinn had 18 as the host Washington Mystics beat the Phoenix Mercury, 90-77. Charde Houston scored 26 points for Phoenix . . . Sylvia Fowles scored 21 points, including the go-ahead free throws with 33 seconds left, as the host Chicago Sky beat the Atlanta Dream, 71-69. Angel McCoughtry had 21 points for Atlanta.

Former ace Sheets signs with Braves

The Braves hope former Brewers ace Ben Sheets, 33, can bolster their rotation. After Sheets passed a physical Sunday, the Braves signed the oft-injured pitcher to a minor-league contract. Sheets, who will report Wednesday to Double A Mississippi, last pitched in 2010 with Oakland, going 4-9 with a 4.53 ERA in 20 starts. Atlanta’s rotation took a hit when Brandon Beachy was lost for the season to a torn elbow ligament. Beachy was 5-5 over 13 starts with a 2.00 ERA, tied for lowest in the majors. Sheets, a four-time NL All-Star with the Brewers, missed the 2009 season after undergoing a similar surgery on his right elbow. With Oakland, the righthander was put on the disabled list for the seventh time in his career, undergoing surgery to repair a torn flexor tendon and a torn elbow ligament . . . The Yankees acquired reliever Chad Qualls from the Phillies for a player to be named or cash and designated minor league infielder and former St. John’s Prep star Matt Antonelli for assignment. The Phillies had designated Qualls for assignment last week . . . The Dodgers, waiting two days for Carlos Lee to accept a trade to Los Angeles, withdrew their offer for the Astros first baseman. Lee, 36, is in the final year of a six-year, $100 million contract.

US in World Cup of Softball title game

Amanda Chidester hit a grand slam, Chelsea Thomas allowed two hits in a five-inning shutout, and the United States completed a perfect run through round-robin play at the World Cup of Softball in Oklahoma City by beating Brazil, 9-0. It was the second straight run-rule victory for the Americans (5-0), who advanced to the championship game against Australia — a 4-0 winner over the Netherlands . . . Yohan Blake made it 2 for 2 against Usain Bolt, winning the 200 meters at the Jamaican Olympic trials in Kingston in 19.80 seconds to edge the world record-holder by 0.03. The win came two days after Blake, the reigning world 100 champion, beat Bolt in the 100 by running a 9.75 . . . California Rowing Club won the Grand Challenge Cup at the Henley (England) Royal Regatta, securing the last of three titles for American crews. California beat Brown by 1¼ lengths on the River Thames to win the men’s coxed eights. Brown also lost the other all-American final as freshmen from the University of Washington won the Temple Challenge Cup. Harvard won the Ladies’ Challenge Plate by overtaking Leander Club of England . . . Botafogo signed Dutch midfielder Clarence Seedorf to a two-year contract, describing it as the biggest move by a foreign player in Brazilian soccer club history. Seedorf, 36, played last season with AC Milan.
