OAKLAND, Calif. – The Red Sox acknowledged a massive mistake Tuesday when they reached a settlement on the remaining portion of Bobby Jenks’s two-year, $12 million contract.
The Sox saved $1.5 million on the $6 million they owed Jenks for the reliever to get an early release from his contract.

Give him some credit for the 2007 World Series (as 2004 was Dan Duquette's team), but the disaster Nick catalogs is Theo Epstein's enduring legacy. He spent like a drunken sailor, albeit one with an unlimited checking account. Other than the Yankees and the Angels, it's difficult to think of another MLB team that could have made so many financially over-the-top signings and not declared bankruptcy.
Cut 90% of these guys--Lets see the kids!!!
