Ending months of near-silence, the International Tennis Hall of Fame’s executive director expressed regret Tuesday that the organization waited 10 months before it recently opened an investigation into Hall of Famer Bob Hewitt’s alleged sexual abuse of girls he coached. He said the hall spent months deliberating how to respond to the allegations in part because it had never before confronted such a case.
