Jason Varitek retired March 1 after 15 seasons with the Red Sox.

The Sox have announced ‘Thanks, Tek Day” to honor retired catcher and captain Jason Varitek.

The pregame ceremony on July 21 will take place at Fenway at 6:30 p.m., before the Sox face the Blue Jays at 7:10.

Varitek, who spent 15 seasons with the Sox and was the 18th captain in team history, announced his official retirement on March 1. He was the longest-tenured catcher in Boston history, earned three All-Star Game appearances, and won both the Silver Slugger and Gold Glove Awards in 2005, one season after he helped lead the Sox to a World Series title.
