Everth Cabrera’s steal of home in the ninth inning sparked the Padres.

Pinch runner Everth Cabrera stole home to tie the game with two outs in the ninth inning and Will Venable came around with the winning run when closer Kenley Jansen threw the ball past catcher A.J. Ellis, leading the San Diego Padres to a 7-6 victory over the Dodgers Saturday night in Los Angeles.

Alex Hinshaw (1-1) recorded two outs to get the victory, ending the Padres’ 10-game losing streak at Dodger Stadium. All-Star Huston Street worked a perfect ninth for his 14th save in 14 attempts.

Jansen (4-3) ended up with his fourth blown save opportunity in 20 chances.

Giants 3, Astros 2 — Hector Sanchez singled in Pablo Sandoval in the bottom of the 12th, lifting host San Francisco past Houston.

Sanchez finished with a career-high four hits for the Giants, who moved into first place in the NL West, a half-game ahead of the Dodgers. Houston scored twice off Giants closer Santiago Casilla with two outs in the ninth, with the tying run coming in on Sanchez’s throwing error on a potential game-ending strikeout.

That prevented Tim Lincecum from earning the win after his most impressive outing of the season. The two-time NL Cy Young Award winner, who went into the game with the highest ERA in the majors among qualifying pitchers, scattered five hits over eight innings and had a career-high 11 strikeouts.

Cubs 4, Diamondbacks 1 — Ryan Dempster tied the team record with a 33-inning scoreless streak, pitching six solid frames to lead host Chicago over Arizona.

Dempster (5-3), who matched the mark set by Ken Holtzman in 1969, allowed four hits and set a career best by winning his fifth straight start. He leads the majors with a 1.86 ERA.

Dempster struck out five and walked three. With the Cubs far back in the playoff race and Dempster in the last season of a four-year contract, he has become a possible trade option for contending teams.

‘‘Like I said before, I am well aware of things going on, rumors and things like that,’’ he said. ‘‘But I’m a member of the Chicago Cubs and I’m trying to do my best job for this team.’’

Darwin Barney hit an RBI double for the Cubs, who have won 11 of their last 15 games. Chris Young homered for Arizona, which has lost eight of 11.

Orioles 8, Tigers 6 — Taylor Teagarden ended his first game with host Baltimore in stunning fashion, hitting a two-run homer in the 13th inning that beat Detroit and snapped the Tigers’ six-game winning streak.

The Orioles got a run in the 11th after the Tigers scored in the top half, then rallied again in the 13th after Quintin Berry put Detroit ahead, 6-5, with a two-out RBI single. In the bottom half, J.J. Hardy ended an 0-for-28 skid with a tying solo homer off Joaquin Benoit (1-2). After Adam Jones was hit by a pitch with two outs, Teagarden homered over the right-field wall. Teagarden was activated from the 60-day disabled list before the game after missing the entire season with a strained back.

Mariners 7, Rangers 0 — Felix Hernandez struck out 12 in a three-hitter and John Jaso homered as host Seattle routed Yu Darvish and Texas.

Hernandez (7-5) limited the powerful Rangers lineup to three singles while improving to 3-0 with a 1.40 ERA in his last six starts. Darvish (10-6) allowed seven runs and eight hits in 6 innings.

Yankees 5, Angels 3 — Robinson Cano and Curtis Granderson each hit two-run homers off Jerome Williams, leading host New York past Los Angeles. Freddy Garcia and three relievers kept Mark Trumbo in the ballpark, denying him a homer in a record sixth straight game against the Yankees.

Nick Swisher, who appeared to rob Trumbo of a second long ball Friday night in helping New York rally late for a win, made another leaping catch at the right-field wall.

Pirates 6, Brewers 4 — Andrew McCutchen hit a two-run shot for his fourth homer in the last three games and visiting Pittsburgh beat Milwaukee to remain tied with Cincinnati for the NL Central lead.

McCutchen hit his 20th homer in the third and also made a nice sliding catch on a sinking line drive by Martin Maldonaldo with two runners on to end the eighth. The All-Star center fielder is batting .447 with 10 homers and 30 RBIs in his last 28 games, and leads the majors with a .366 batting average.

Marlins 2, Nationals 1 — Mark Buehrle pitched seven innings to win his fourth straight start and host Miami beat Washington to snap a three-game losing streak.

Steve Cishek pitched the final 1 innings to earn his second save, and first since taking over the closer’s role from Heath Bell.

Braves 8, Mets 7 — Jason Heyward singled to cap a three-run eighth-inning rally and host Atlanta prevented a shaky R.A. Dickey from getting his 11th win in a row by beating New York for its sixth straight victory.

Bobby Parnell (2-2) gave up RBI singles with two outs in the eighth to Michael Bourn, Martin Prado, and Heyward and Braves closer Craig Kimbrel struck out Ike Davis, Daniel Murphy, and pinch hitter Lucas Duda to convert his 19th straight save opportunity.

Royals 6, White Sox 3 — Alcides Escobar hit two homers off Jake Peavy, the second a go-ahead shot with two outs in the seventh, and host Kansas City edged Chicago.

Reds 3, Cardinals 2 — Ryan Ludwick led off the bottom of the 10th inning with a homer that barely cleared the wall in left field, sending Cincinnati to its fifth consecutive win. The Reds have matched their season high at 11 games over .500.

Blue Jays 11, Indians 9 — Edwin Encarnacion hit two home runs, Yunel Escobar also went deep, and host Toronto used an eight-run third inning to beat Cleveland.

Phillies 8, Rockies 5 — Vance Worley pitched into the seventh inning and hit a two-run double, Carlos Ruiz added a three-run homer, and visiting Philadelphia hung on to beat Colorado.

A’s 9, Twins 3 — Chris Carter and Yoenis Cespedes each homered and drove in three runs, powering visiting Oakland past Minnesota.

Seth Smith and Brandon Moss also homered to beat Cole De Vries (2-2) and back Tommy Milone (9-6). The A’s won for the eighth time in nine games to move two games above the .500 mark for the first time in two months.

The ball was flying all over Target Field, and the A’s outhomered the Twins 4-2 on this steamy night. They’ve gone deep at least once in 19 of their last 20 games and have crept into the wild-card race by winning 23 of their last 36.

The Twins lost their fourth in a row.
