Red Sox scold Bill James on Paterno comments

The Red Sox Monday asked senior adviser of baseball operations Bill James to refrain from commenting about Joe Paterno and the sexual abuse scandal at Penn State.

James went on the radio over the weekend and defended Paterno after a report that said he should have done more to prevent assistant coach Jerry Sandusky from sexually abusing boys.

Comments

James is an idiot. Kiley

I heard this interview on the radio. This guy James' comments are very disturbing. The Red Sox better keep an eye on him. He sounds like an accident waiting to happen.

Regarding the foolish statement, one of many Mr. James made in this interview, that Joe Paterno was isolated, implying that had no power, please Google Vicky Triponey, the college professor who stood up to Paterno about disciplining the football players for infractions. She was subsequently forced out. Many notes from the board meetings are on the record. In short, Joe Paterno ran that board. And this was well after 2002. Joe and his family were exerting their power even after he was fired. They did this in the exit contract.

James may be wrong on Paterno but was right on the media. They have been covering uip their complicity in the cult of the coach with the all the useless after the fact outrage. Why did the media not notice the guy they were idolizing was a sick predator? Fell down on the job. Sports guys are not real journalists
