The ongoing discussion in college football is basic: Find a way for the punishment to match the crime committed by NCAA institutions.
Example 1, of course, is Penn State, which was, by almost everyone’s opinion, hammered by the NCAA for its lack of institutional control in the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse scandal.

I might add that the NCAA should have added sanctions against those directly involved in the cover up- the former athletic director for example.
absolutly absurd.smu was put out of buisness because they paid players not covered up felonies against children by presidents,vp, coaches and ad. the penalties did not go far enough. the program should have been shut down for 4 years not just banned from bowls.
