Greg you generally write a good column, except on those occasions when I have to believe someone upstairs tells you to write something negative about the Pats, so their pathetic Red Sox don't look so, well pathetic. I say their Red Sox, because John Henry gave Globe executives World Series Rings, remember that, Greg. I'm not suggesting the Pats deserve no criticicm, it is both healthy and necessary, when warrented. You cannot give big money to three recievers and ramain competitive. The Colts did that for years, big money to too many people and when Manning went down, there was nothing left. Compare that with the year Brady went down and they went 11-5. They offered 16 million for two years. Not great, buy cetainly not insulting. No team will give him more than that at the end of this year. The most reiduculous (and you know better) are the three players you mentioned. Deon Branch, always hurt, in a playoff game his first year in Seattle, he was thrown to only once, I beleive on third down and was a non factor in big games. The Eagles disliked Asante Samuel the moment he arrived, his teamates were not fond of him and both his DC and Andy Reid costantlty, constantly criticized him for NOT PLAYING THE TEAM DEFENSE. And, then there is Richard Seymour, who contributed greatly to the Superbowl wins. The Raiders paid him just over 35 million dollars for three years, his cost destroyed their salary cap and where are they now. Bill used that 35 million to rebuid a Superbowl contender for the next five years and add a Pro Bowl caliber left tackle for the next ten years. Don't listen to the guys with the World Series Rings upstairs at the Gulag on Morrissey Blvd. You're pretty good when you stick to football.
