Red Sox owners got back from the Olympics on Saturday.
As part of the ongoing effort to assist our former business partners (alas, the New York Times Co. no longer owns 17 percent of the fabled franchise), here’s what the Sox bosses missed while they were overseeing their all-important LeBron James investment in London:

So Dan thinks Adrian Gonzalez is the snitch eh?? I can see that. Gonzo is a player with very soft numbers and scant leadership qualities. Dan here is my questions - who did Gonzo run to and who spoke to Bobby about it??
BTW, absolutely insane if the Sox could have dealt Gonzalez to the Dodgers for prime young talent and didn't do it. Gonzalez is not the player we all thought we were getting. His numbers are soft, he does not produce in big spots and he runs to ownership to whine about the manager. A coincidence that Adrian Gonzalez has been on 2 teams who've suffered historic collapses??
I think its Manny.
I think it was my 7-yr old daughter......that's about the right level of maturity amongst these players and ownership

Where exactly is the article about who they could have traded Gonzo for? I don't see his stock going down in the next 2 months, up if anything. In other words, they can probably make the same or better deal in the winter, if that's what they want to do. Not like these prospects would make any difference the rest of this crappy season.
Valentine should be held accountable for his actions. He is a manager who is managing professionals. Managers in most businesses who take these abusive actions would be told not to do so. If they continued to do so (as Valentine has done), then they would be terminated. The drop in production at 3rd base is illustrative of the Red Sox problems. This is apparent from a quick review of the statistics. Youkilis has 4.38 pitches per at bat, which leads the majors for 3B, and Middlebrooks only has 3.86 pitches per at bat. Youkilis has OBP of .377 since he has joined the White Sox, and Middlebrooks has OBP of .318, which is 59 points lower. On defense, Youkilis has defensive runs saved per year of 19 at 3B, and Middlebrooks has defensive runs saved of 14, which is a difference of 33 runs per year. I can understand using Middlebrooks if they concluded that the season was over, but they should have kept Youk until they were able to receive good prospects in return. The Red Sox made a mistake in acquiring Carl Crawford as well. They ignored the sabremetric evidence, which indicated that Crawford had not been a top-notch player. Many local sportswriters praised the signing of Crawford, even though it was obvious to knowledgeable fans that this was not a correct decision. Now we see that teams, such as the Rangers, who have paid close attention to sabremetric evidence are doing well while the Sox have gotten worse. The Red Sox should go back to the approach that helped them to win two World Series.
"Now everybody's trying to guess who ratted out Bobby to the bosses. A lot of us have candidates. I'm going with the aforementioned Gonzalez as my top suspect. Call it unfair. Or call it an informed guess." Seriously, how does Shaughnessy still have a job? Did we lose a war?? He's the Boston Globe's "mean girl." He's hurled slanderous accusation after slanderous accusation-oh, I'm sorry, "informed guesses"-at an entire generation of Sox players. This type of "reporting" is better suited for TMZ, or Perez Hilton. DFA him already.
Right on, Dan. The sooner Valentine leaves town the sooner we can have hope for the Sox again.
Surprised that someone didn't report Valentine to the proper authorities for bullying.
Makes you want to put on a pink hat, buy a brick, and jam out to "Sweet Caroline."
It took years to mess this team up beyond all reckoning and it'll take years to fix it, if this crew is capable of doing so, and on form they don't inspire confidence. Are you ready for some football?
So call it like it is....Larry Lucchino has visited this monster on us. He ran off Epstein, Francona and anyone else that got us 2 world championships and but for a couple breaks against TB would have had us playing Philly for another one. Don't let the bandwagon start with "break up the team"..screw that...fire the meddling president who has brought us this travesty with the immortal comment of "our goal is to be below the salary cap" We should start with his.

Has anyone thought that these players may be tanking just to get rid of a manager they dont like? Sure seems that way. If that is the case (Beckett, Lester, Gonzalez, ect); do we has fans want these type of players on our team?
I stopped watching after Sat.nite game.Dont care cause they dont care.
