Sox players reportedly met with owners about Valentine

A group of Red Sox players met with team owner John Henry and team president Larry Lucchino in July to express their discontent with manager Bobby Valentine, according to a Yahoo! Sports report published today.

Adrian Gonzalez and Dustin Pedroia were among the players who were “the most vocal” at a July 27 meeting in New York, and some players said they did not want to continue playing for Valentine, Yahoo! reported.

Yawn. No surprise here really. Everyone knows the players don't like BV. They don't like any manager apparently. There are some pretty rotten apples in this barrel. What are these guys? High School brats??? Anyone abusing themselves with the notion that this team is anywhere near championship caliber is truly delusional. Blow it up, blow it up. Get Crawford in for his Tommy John surgery and kiss this waste of a season goodbye. Oh, and make some moves. We need pitching again.

Shank was right on about Gonzalez. Says he was the snitch with the Bobby V/Will Middlebrooks story. Absolutely shameful behavior from these players. Wow, Pedroia really is a small man. Unreal!!! (for those wondering what I'm talking about please read the Jeff Passan story on Yahoo) Bobby V isn't the problem with this team.

All I can say is clearly this team needs more leaders like Pedey! Ba-dum-pah! No wait, he's one of those players that you hate when he's on the other team. Of course you hate him when he's on your team too! Wait, I got another one!

Oh, well. Time to fire the players.

These spoiled overpaid jerks should be ashamed of themselves. They are a bunch of whining losers. Valentine was probably exhausted trying to think of someone who could get a hit or three outs. Pedroia and Gonzalez should be looking for their power instead of meeting with owners. Get rid of them all. As for Lester, he gave up those runs, not Valentine. Tough.

I'm perplexed. Pedroia seems to have emerged as a leader among the Mutiny on the Bounty crowd, but where was he last September while his beloved Captain went down, chiefly due to some of the same mutineers he's aligned with this year? As for the photograph stunt, childish. I'd stay in my office, too, if I had all that middle-school animus flowing outside my door. Does anyone even want to watch these "players" anymore?

Kjburley you are on the money. It is utterly disappointing that Pedroia would take part in that meeting. The de facto captain no more. That is a lack of leadership and he is upset his daddy lost his job. The fact of the matter is if Grady Little had Keith Foulke and Curt Schilling then Tito never sees Boston. Hell with all the tools tito had he went down 3 to 0 to the Yanks. In 07 we trail Cleveland by 3 to 1. The team won is spite of Tito. I like Valentine and he has been usurped at every turn. The real jerk is Ben. Valentine not allowed his own coaches when he gets the job. Cafardo is on the money when he says this guy is being set up to fail. It is joke. Agon you are not worth the money and you have the fire of an impotent man in a house of ill repute.

The ownership needs to stop using the manager and players for what seems like endless charity events. No wonder Valentine fell asleep at the park. The demands on their time is enough without the Red Sox using them to promote the name.
