■ The White Sox activated Paul Konerko from the seven-day concussion disabled list and he served as the designated hitter, batting cleanup for the series opener against the Royals. He hit a solo shot in the fourth inning to give him 19 home runs on the year.
■ Orioles manager Buck Showalter and first baseman Mark Reynolds were ejected in Detroit. Showalter and Reynolds became upset after an overturned call put Detroit’s Jhonny Peralta on first base after he was initially called out in the fifth inning.
■ Royals second baseman Chris Getz is expected to miss the rest of the season with a broken left thumb. He was injured in the fifth inning when he tried to bunt. The pitch hit his hand and the ball went foul.
■ Brewers slugger Ryan Braun has hit three homers in two games after being given the day off Wednesday. Before that, Braun was in a 6-for-42 skid (.142) with no homers in 10 games.■
