Red Sox are hard to believe

NEW YORK — It’s good to be back on the Sox watch for a few days here in the Bronx. I missed the circus in Baltimore and my skull’s been imploding as I read and hear the ridiculous spin from the Red Sox front office.

Baghdad Bobs of Boston have been spreading the message that the Palace Revolt (the “fire Bobby” meeting was actually at the Palace Hotel, which is just too good, even by Sox standards) of July was no big deal. It was one of Larry Lucchino’s famed “round table’’ meetings.

The Red Sox last game is in the Bronx on Wednesday, October 3. (Excuse me, I forgot about the second wild card. Bobby V says on WEEI that the Red Sox are a "playoff team.") That's five weeks, less a day, before November 6, election day. Dan, you should ask the Globe if they'll let you join the political staff for the last month of the election campaign. Covering the Red Sox front office would be good preparation for covering the politicians. Your description of Red Sox ownership sounds a lot like the last days of the Nixon presidency.

dan, the fans will let the players know how they feel about them when the return to play at fenway as you'll be able to hear the boos and catcalls from miles away. as far as this ownership group, they, henry(both of them), lucchino and werner have sucked the life and soul of this once hallowed franchise and despite what your buddy cafardo wrote, this group deserves the ire and enmity of anyone who care about about the sport of baseball. shaughnessy, the only regrets after years of reading you and your white haired twin brother ryan is you 2 guys never ever covered politics as unlike some of your other brethren who call themselves journalists, the 2 of you have the great habit of holding people accountable and are not in the least bit squeamish about asking questions and naming names. ma

The writer from yahoo sports who broke the article about the mutiny has also said there is additional happenings in that meeting which he could not print because he could not get seocnd or third confirmation. He said it will be a matter of time before those too will be out. I heard him explain his side of the story on "the article" and he sounds more convincing of what really happened than the 3 stooges and their players.

Great interview with David Page. But can you quit using that stupid allusion: Red Sox Nation "turns its lonely eyes to you." It's become a tired cliche. Just sayin'

Oh, somewhere in this favored land the sun is shining bright; The band is playing somewhere, and somewhere hearts are light, And somewhere men are laughing, and somewhere children shout; But there is no joy in Mudville - mighty Casey has struck out. - Ernest Lawrence Thayer

If it's true about Camelot's Round Table only being at Fenway and always including the equivalent of King Arthur (the manager) for its sessions, then not only the owners but the implicated players (Sir Dusty chief among them) are feeding us a line of fish and chips. This just confirms common sense: Why would "concerned" players and owners call a meeting with the pure intentions of improving the team and NOT invite the team's manager? You'd think a manager might have some interest in such a topic. While the media may be guilty until proven innocent on most occasions, this one appears to be on the meetings' caught-red-handed participants.

I guess that even if I clicked on this story because I knew I would enjoy laughing at how seriously you take all this nonsense, it still counts as a click for your story, so -- good work. But seriously, I don't anyone who is not a 7th grade girl who takes such an interest in this kind of gossip.

Why we continue to spend money and support these fools is beyond me...great article....great legacy...great park....great fans...foolish group over overpaid athletes and self-centered ownership....a sad, sad season.

Oh, Shoggy, you're nothing if not consistent in your obsession with the back-room dealings of the Red Sox, or should I say your SPECULATIONS on what's going on in the back rooms, since no one from the organization will talk to you, even off the record or in secret. How 'bout some actual baseball game analysis, huh? Or is that beyond your capabilities? Yeah, keep stirring up the masses with your phony "telling truth to power" routine. Many of them believe it, and I know you're starting to, also. So very full of yourself, Shoggy.

Nice work, Danno...it's the first on-purpose click from me in over a year. Just sayin', so the bean-counters can feel good about data integrity. As to the "work" itself: meh. A Twitter feed from a disgruntled employee and warmed-over tab/interweb gossip. Geez, I hope you didn't hurt yourself.

Nice job Dan..I'm sure Tariq "Iraq is winning" Azziz appreciates the shout out wherever he is.... Now there would be an out of the box PA choice.
