Daniel Nava is expected to be activated off the disabled list Tuesday to replace Carl Crawford on the roster.
Nava has been on the disabled list since July 29 with a sprained left wrist, and now will help replace Crawford, who is expected to undergo Tommy John surgery on Thursday.
Nava played his second minor league rehabilitation game for Triple A Pawtucket Monday, going 1 for 3 with a solo home run against Rochester at McCoy Stadium.
After a scorching start in when was called up in May (.312/.425 /.472 through 41 games), Nava slumped (.139/.262/.250 over 24 games).
He is hitting .251/.373/.397 for the season.
