Son of the former major leaguer . . . A .231 hitter in parts of two major league seasons, with just three extra-base hits (all doubles) in 65 at-bats . . . Spent most of last season with Triple A Albuquerque, hitting .310. In 60 games this year with the Isotopes was at a .295 clip . . . Saw time at second base, third base, shortstop, and both corner outfield spots in the minors . . . A second-round draft pick by the Dodgers in 2005 out of Puerto Rico.

Must reduce walks (4.2 per nine innings in 2012), but has put up solid strikeout totals in the minors (456 K’s in 485 innings) . . . Ground-ball pitcher who features a good sinker and curveball. Has allowed only one homer in 121 innings this year . . . Entered the season ranked the 95th overall prospect by Baseball America.

This season, he’s batting .303 with 24 homers and 101 RBIs . . . Has a high strikeout rate in the minors (once every 4.2 at-bats) . . . At 6 feet 4 inches, 225 pounds, has similar build to Ryan Lavarnway.

SP Rubby De La Rosa

Recently activated off the 60-day disabled list after having Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery Aug. 9, 2011 . . . Made his first Dodgers appearance of 2012 on Aug. 22, allowing two runs in two-thirds of an inning of relief. Made 10 starts and 13 appearances with the Dodgers in 2011 (4-5, 3.71 ERA) . . . Before his surgery, the Dominican native was throwing his fastball in the mid-90s as a starter and up to 100 miles per hour out of the bullpen.
