Assuming there is a full season in 2012-13, Bruins games will be aired on either NBC or the NBC Sports Network 17 times.
The NBC Sports Network is scheduled to carry the Bruins’ season opener against Philadelphia on Oct. 11. On Nov. 23, NBC will kick off its league coverage by airing the Bruins’ annual day-after Thanksgiving matinee at TD Garden. The Bruins will host the Rangers in the Friday game.
The threat of a lockout puts part or all of the schedule in doubt. However, the Nov. 23 Bruins-Rangers game is a significant date if a lockout takes place. The belief around the league is that an agreement will be in place by then to allow NBC’s NHL coverage to air in its entirety.
NBC is also planning to cover the annual Winter Classic on Jan. 1. The game will feature Detroit against Toronto at Michigan Stadium. NBC’s coverage of the outdoor game, in conjunction with HBO’s popular “24/7: Road to the Winter Classic” series, also serves as an important marker in labor negotiations.
Of the 17 Bruins games scheduled for NBC or the NBC Sports Network, four are non-exclusive, which will also air locally on NESN.
