Cutdown day is underway for the Patriots.
A league source confirmed on Friday that the Patriots parted ways with veteran receiver Deion Branch and backup quarterback Brian Hoyer. The team also cut veteran center Dan Koppen, safety James Ihedigbo, and defensive back Derrick Martin.

Cutting Deion Branch was a bit of a shock, but I wouldn't be surprised if he resigned at a later time. He may sign with a receiver needy team like the Dolphins if the Patriots decide not to bring him back. As for Hoyer, he wouldn't be a bad pickup for a team like the Cardinals or Packers.
