Red Sox rookie catcher Ryan Lavarnway was grabbing a snack in the clubhouse kitchen before Wednesday’s game against the Angels when he was unexpectedly interrupted.
“Ryan? I’m Tom Werner,” said the team’s chairman, shaking Lavarnway’s hand. “How is everything?”

So Valentine's gone - I'm not sure that's fair but who knows? Maybe they should bring Francona back if he'd want to come, everyone can do a couple mea culpas and get back to the business of winning baseball games. Francona likely learned the lessons that a manager can't have a pet and you have to assume you're dealing with a bunch of babies. I'm glad to hear the owners aren't planning on selling the team - that would be a nightmare.
There's no possible way that Tito would come back under this ownership group. They ran him out of town on a rail.
In the years to come we will look back on this season as a blessing. This year is when this organziantion and ownership re-focused and re-dedicated themselves to winning championships. Getting out from under those big contracts is huge and I think Ben Cherington is the right guy for the job. He's known for his ability o evaluate young players and is not driven by his own ego the way Theo was.
The core of the team is in place and pretty much all of them have had lousy years. If they have even good years next season, not great but just good, this team will be far better off.
Btw LOVE Lucchino's ban of soccer talk at Fenway. ha ha ha ha ha ha Don't blame you at all Larry.
20-2 says it all...the rest is just words and more noise.....
Now I understand why Lucchino still has a job. These guys used to run the San Diego Padres! Get ready for another 80 plus years of frustration.
