Boys’ soccer players to watch

Mac Steeves, Needham — One of the best forwards in Eastern Mass., Steeves scored 24 goals as a junior en route to becoming All-State and a two-time EMass All-Star. The Providence College commit was 7 points off of the Rockets’ career points record heading into fall.

Thayrone Miranda, Somerville — He scored 15 goals playing on the outside attack as a sophomore. Now a junior, he will move to the inside and coach George Scarpelli expects him to get 50 percent more touches.

Aidan Browne, Archbishop Williams — All Browne did as a sophomore was set a school record by finding the back of the net 32 times after transferring from Boston Latin. It was also no coincidence that the Bishops jumped from nine wins to 13.

Tighe Van Lenten and Demetri Decoulos, Masconomet — The senior defensive duo have been playing side by side since age 10, giving the Chieftains one of the most seasoned partnerships on the pitch. They helped Masco post a 0.6 GAA last season.

Dave MacKinnon, Oliver Ames — A two-time Hockomock All-Star, MacKinnon brings a career sub-1.00 GAA into his senior season after posting nine clean sheets a season ago. — CRAIG FORDE
