Xaverian over Brockton — Question 4 on November’s state referendum ballot asks the following: Should Catholic Conference schools be allowed to play football against New Jersey high schools? The Globe urges a no vote.

Belmont over Burlington — The new movie “Knuckleball!” is a chance to remind young Marauder fans that Wilbur Wood was one of Belmont’s all-time great football players.


Everett over St. John’s Prep — But the real highlight is the annual appearance of the Globe School Sports Staff float in the homecoming parade. This year’s theme: “Jonathan who?”

Lincoln-Sudbury over Somerville — Six straight quarters without giving up a point is enough to make a turkey vulture smile. Orville (2-0) loves L-S this week.
