Why Bobby Valentine and the Red Sox didn’t work

Looking ahead at who might replace him as manager

The Red Sox will move on to their third manager in three years, as Bobby Valentine was dismissed after just one season and a 69-93record, the worst by a Red Sox team since 1966.

The dysfunctional organization is changing managers as if it is changing socks.

your guy is incompetent Nick.  yes management botched the initial decision and his handling during the season---but this guy could not be an effective manager anywhere.  he is erratic emotionally and logically and does not know how to make and cultivate productive relationships.  there's a reason so many dislike him.  as a fan, i am not looking for a pc guy.  (though that's an easy out for)  i'm looking for a competent guy.  and Bobby V is far from a competent baseball manager.  maybe he can manage a restaurant but surely cannot manage a team.  you were wrong last fall and winter and you are wrong now.  how you could possibly have thought Bobby would be a good manager is beyond me.  your talent assessment appears to be up there with Theo and free agents.  ...enough advocating, defending and apologizing for your guy.  how about some reporting without self interest.  huh, that would be a change of pace...

way to go Nick, carrying Bobby's water all the way to the bitter end. It almost reads as an act of self defense as Francona's body wasn't even cold yet and you were already stumping for your buddy Bobby V.. Good riddance to him, and I hope I NEVER have to read another defense of Bobby V from you again.
