Looks like NHL lockout will be lasting awhile

The pain officially began Thursday, just after 2 p.m., when the NHL made another lockout official with the cancellation of all regular-season games through Oct. 24. For Bruins fans, that took this Thursday’s season opener in Philadelphia off the docket, as well as the first game on Causeway Street, Oct. 18 vs. the Canadiens.

In total, six of Boston’s 82 games were vaporized in the steam of the NHL-NHLPA brewing acrimony. At the moment, 82 of 1,230 games have been wiped out.

I'm almost ready to say goodbye to the NHL forever. In every relationship one party loves a bit more than the other. In my case, I hate for the relationship to be over, however, I cannot continue to be dumped on. I will spend my entertainment money elsewhere. Hopefully the players will find work elsewhere and the owners will go back to their other businesses and find a different tax shelter to play with. I feel bad for all the people who do the little jobs that will lose here. My apologies for not supporting them.

This would be a great time for someone rich and passionate to start considering creating a replacement North American league, like the old WHA.  I'm sure Hartford would be ready, and Quebec, and yet another region of New York (Brooklyn?), and Minnesota (with a million professional level rinks), and KC, etc.

By the time they are done fighting over who gets more of our money , it will be too late. Neither will . Didn't they learn their lesson the last time , how difficult it was getting everyone all warm and fuzzy over the NHL again . They succeeeded , but it might be harder this time around, this is not the NFL or even MLB, this is the NHL and they do not have the luxury of a passionate fan base that will open up our wallets as soon as they open up the doors. This lockout is not even big news to be honest ... and that should scare them just a bit ... games are being lopped off the schedule left and right , and its an after thought item on ESPN ...
